Georgia,
Horned Owl,
Palmer’s Paw-some Review of Horned Owl Brewery!

Hey there, humans! It’s me, Palmer, your favorite beer-drinking French bulldog and self-proclaimed connoisseur of all things tasty! Over the last year, Horned Owl Brewing (HOB) has quickly become MY favorite brewery close to home. I mean, it’s got all the five paws in all the categories—yes, I’m counting my paws, and yes, I’m a little biased, but who wouldn’t be when you’re this fabulous?
Let’s start with the most important topic: BEER! (*****). The beer at HOB gets all the paws, and I’m not just barking up the wrong tree here. They’re cranking out new brews faster than a labrador can chase it’s tail and with about 12-14 beers on tap at any given time, there’s something for every human palate. My humans are all about those IPAs. They rave about Poncho (which is zippy with a little jalapeño—perfect for those spicy taco nights!), Snow Owl (which I assume is named after those birds that spin their heads around), Raptor (because who doesn’t want to drink like a dinosaur?), and Mango Feathers (which sounds like a tropical vacation in a glass). If you’re looking for something lighter, The Owlet is a great all-day sipper. Trust me, we’ve verified that is the case—multiple times. Quality control, you know?
Now, let’s lump treats, atmosphere, and the staff together because from my doggie perspective, this is where the real magic happens at HOB. The staff gets so many paws up, I’m surprised they don’t have a fan club! They’re not just dog-friendly; they’re dog-obsessed! They remember the humans who come in and even the beers they like. I mean, they know my humans better than I do! And did I mention they’re great at checking in to see if you need another beer? They’re like my personal butlers, but with less bowing and more belly rubs.
Speaking of belly rubs, I have two personal favorite humans at HOB that I know by name. When my humans say, “Want to go see Preston or Nick?” it’s always a resounding YES! I practically leap off the couch like I’m auditioning for the dog Olympics. And let’s not forget about Emily and Stacia—those ladies are treat dispensers in disguise! I’m convinced they have a secret stash of goodies just for me.
So, if you’re looking for a place that serves up great beer, friendly staff, and treats that make my tail wag like a windmill, Horned Owl Brewery is the place to be! Just remember to bring your best furry friend along—because what’s better than sipping a cold one while your dog is living their best life? Cheers to good times, great brews, and endless belly rubs! 🐾🍻

FREEDOM MILL

Listen up, humans! If you’re on the hunt for a destination brewery that’s more fun than a squirrel on a caffeine high, look no further than Freedom Mill! This place is so family-friendly that even the kiddos will be entertained while you sip on your favorite libation. I mean, they’ve got enough activities to keep the little ones busy while you enjoy your drink—it’s like a daycare for humans! Just remember to keep an eye on them; you don’t want them trying to “help” with the ax throwing!
One reason my humans are head over paws for Freedom Mill (besides my almost-famous status, of course) is that they serve both beer and cocktails. So, if you’re one of those rare creatures who doesn’t like beer (I know, shocking!), you’ve got plenty of options to mix it up. It’s like a buffet for your taste buds!
And let’s talk about dog-friendliness! They’ve got a dog bowl with a Frenchie on it—because obviously, they know who the real star is here. Plus, there’s always a food truck parked outside, which means special treats are just a sniff away. I’ve been known to do a little dance when I see certain trucks roll in.
This place is HUGE! They’ve got everything from a store to a shooting range, an arcade upstairs, and even ax throwing! I mean, who doesn’t want to throw sharp objects while sipping on a cold brew (JUST KIDDING, one thing before the other, you know?) I like to think of myself as the unofficial mascot, lounging on the big sofa in front of the jumbo TV, watching the big game while my humans cheer like they’re at the Super Bowl.
Shoutout to JB, the general manager, and Maria, the social media guru! These two are the best! They always have treats and pets for me, which is basically the doggie equivalent of winning the lottery.
And let’s not forget the patriotism! This place has it locked down tighter than my grip on a chew toy. As the most patriotic Frenchie you’ll ever meet, I’m all in for the red, white, and blue! So, if you’re looking for a place where you can enjoy great drinks, entertain the kiddos, and let your pup feel like a VIP, Freedom Mill Brewery is the place to be! Cheers to good times, great brews, and endless belly rubs! 🇺🇸🐾🍻

Pendley Creek

So, let me tell you about our find in Jasper, GA! We met Daniel and Pam while property hunting in North Georgia, and now we make it a point to visit Pendley Brewery every few weeks. It’s like our little slice of heaven in downtown Jasper, and trust me, it’s worth the trip!
Now, if you’re looking for jalapeño-infused, fruity concoctions that taste like a smoothie gone wrong, you can keep on searching. Pendley is all about the purist beers, and they do it right! You won’t find any weird flavors here—just some seriously awesome traditional brews that make my humans’ taste buds do a happy dance. My humans have basically tried the whole menu, and on a scale of 1 to 5, they’re all sitting pretty above 3.7, with a few actual 5’s thrown in for good measure. So, you can bet your bottom biscuit that you won’t be disappointed!
The vibe at Pendley is small and quaint, like a cozy little den where you can kick back and relax. And if you’re visiting in the fall, you can bet your favorite chew toy that there’s a good football game on the TV. Now, we may have some friendly debates about Daniel’s hometown team (shhhhh, he’s a Yellow Jackets fan and not a Dawgs fan), but I’ll let that slide because he’s known to share a chip or two with yours truly. I mean, who can resist a Frenchie?
So, if you’re in the area and looking for a place that serves up fantastic beers, a cozy atmosphere, and the occasional snack for your favorite four-legged friend, Pendley Brewery is the place to be! Just remember to give Daniel a little nudge for those chips—he’s got a soft spot for me, and I’m not above using my charm to score some tasty treats! Cheers to good brews and even better company! 🍻🐾

Skint Chestnut

One of the things my humans and I love most about craft beer is the culture surrounding it. It’s like a big, frothy family reunion where everyone’s wearing funny shirts and talking about hops instead of politics! We get to chat with the brewers, the owners, and the brewtenders to hear their wild stories, what makes their brewery special, and where they go to drink when they’re not busy brewing their own magic.
So, one sunny Sunday, we decided to explore an alternative side of town and stumbled upon Skint Chestnut. Let me tell you, it did not disappoint! It’s nestled in the charming little downtown area of Powder Springs, GA, where the only thing more delightful than the beer is the friendly atmosphere.
When we arrived for our first visit (and all the subsequent ones, because we’re basically regulars now), we were greeted by Justin. I’m pretty sure he sleeps on a cot in the back of the brewery because he’s always there, like a dedicated beer guardian! Seriously, if there were a “Most Likely to Be Found at the Brewery” award, he’d win it paws down. Plus, he has an eidetic memory! (How’s that for a canine vocabulary? I’m practically a doggy scholar!)
Justin remembers me (obviously, who could forget this adorable face?), my humans, AND what they’ve tried, haven’t tried, and what they like to drink. It’s like he’s got a little doggy database in his brain! Our top two picks are the Hazy IPA (five paws up for sure) and the Sabrovosspa (a Skint Chestnut exclusive that’s so good it should come with a crown).
But wait, there’s more! Not only does Justin serve up some fantastic brews, but he also has top-notch treats at the ready when you walk in. I mean, who doesn’t love a place that caters to both humans and their four-legged companions? The vibe is laid back and chill, and it’s not unusual for the pawrents to make friends while I’m busy charming everyone for snacks.
And if you’re unsure what to try next, Justin is your go-to guy for beer recommendations. Next week, we’ll be diving into Frog Rock, his first recommendation to us! Thanks for the intro Justin, because it hopped right into my favorites list!
So, if you’re looking for a brewery where the beer flows like a river and the humans are as friendly as a pack of puppies, Skint Chestnut is the place to be! Cheers to good brews, great company, and the best treats around! 🍻🐾

Frog Rock

At the recommendation of my buddy Justin at Skint Chestnut, we hopped over to Austell, GA, to meet Justice and his dog, Miss Moo Moo. Now, I know she has a fancy name that’s probably longer than my leash, but let’s be real—Miss Moo Moo is way more fun to say!
Talk about dog-friendly! We rolled in, and this girl was ready to play. We were instant besties—#BFFs for life! Sundays are our special day because that’s when my friend is guaranteed to be there, and I can’t resist a good game of chase. Frog Rock may not be huge, but they have a super cool outdoor space in the back that’s perfect for sniffing all the smells and leaving little messages for my fellow canine visitors. It’s like my own personal doggy playground!
Justice is just as cool as Justin, and he knows the people and their tastes better than I know where my humans hide the treats. The humans rave about their beers, but I’m just here for the popcorn—my ultimate weakness! They don’t have dog treats per se, but if you find a tiny human, you’re bound to score some of that buttery goodness. Just make sure to give them your best puppy eyes; it’s a foolproof strategy!
The vibe at Frog Rock is also super chill. Not a single visit has gone by without my humans and I making new friends at the bar. Sometimes, we even take them along on our next adventure—because who doesn’t want to hang out with a French bulldog on a mission?
Now, here’s the kicker: the unique vision of Head Brewer and Co-founder Ryan. He’s brewing what he calls “Happy Beer.” Why? Because their water comes from Lithia Springs Mineral Water, which contains trace amounts of Lithium. Yes, you heard that right! So, as you sip on a Frog Rock beverage, you might find your spirits soaring higher than a squirrel in a tree! Alcohol is usually a natural depressant, but thanks to the Lithium in your beer, you might just feel like you can conquer the world—or at least the nearest dog park!
So, if you’re into a cool vibe, good beer, and a unique vision that might just make you feel like a million bucks (or at least like you’ve had a few too many belly rubs), go check out Frog Rock Brewery! Cheers to good brews, great friends, and the best popcorn around! 🍻🐾

Lazy Guy Distillery

Hey there, fellow fur-friends and humans! So, my humans and I decided to shake things up a bit and diverge from our usual brewery hopping to check out this place called Lazy Guy Distillery in downtown Kennesaw. Let me tell you, it’s located in a super cool building from the 1800s that just oozes character! The patio vibe is pawsitively delightful, and I could tell right away that this was going to be a fun outing.
Now, for all my fellow pups out there, you’ll be happy to know that Lazy Guy has thought of us too! They’ve got these awesome river stones that are perfect for cooling off on a hot day—trust me, I can attest to their effectiveness! Plus, Tracy, our lovely server, was an absolute gem. She brought me an ice-cold water bowl, some tasty treats, and even threw in a belly rub! Talk about a five-paw experience!
As for my humans, they tried two cocktails that had them wagging their tails with delight (WAIT, let’s be honest, would look a bit silly for humans), doing a little happy dance,: a pumpkin spice mule and a habanero honey mule. Let me just say, these humans of mine know their libations, and they were raving about how excellent the drinks were. It’s clear that the folks at Lazy Guy have some serious experience when it comes to concocting craft cocktails!
Oh, and if you’re curious about how they make all this magic happen, they offer tours on a limited basis. Just keep an eye on their Instagram and Facebook for updates! If you take a quick peek in the back, you’ll see they’ve got quite the setup going on—definitely worth a look!
So, if you’re in the area and looking for a fun spot to chill with your humans, I highly recommend Lazy Guy Distillery. Great drinks, a cool vibe, and a pup-friendly atmosphere? What more could a dog ask for? Until next time, keep those tails (or butts) wagging! 🐾🍹

North Carolina & Tennessee

Buckbald Brewing –  Alright, folks, grab your treats and settle in because this review would be a tail wagger, if I had a tail!  Writing about my pals Patrick and Matt at Buckbald is like trying to choose my favorite chew toy—impossible! Not only do they brew some killer beers that make me drool like my humans are cooking steak, but they’re also two of the bestest humans a Frenchie like me could ever know. Seriously, if there were a doggy Hall of Fame, these guys would be first-ballot inductees! 🐾🍹
Now, you all know how much I love our military and veterans (okay, it’s really my humans who love them, but since they feed me, I’m claiming it too). Well, Patrick, Matt, their families, staff, and the whole community are some of the most generous folks you’ll ever meet. Every year, these legends fundraise thousands of dollars for Shepherd’s Men and the SHARE Military Initiative. They even brew a special beer called 22 Pale Ale to honor our military, and a portion of the proceeds goes to Shepherd’s Men. Talk about brewing with a purpose! If I had thumbs, I’d give them a standing ovation!
Now, let’s get to the good stuff—the beer! You can usually find anywhere from 12 to 16 beers on tap, and my humans have tried them all. One of their favorites is Mango Tango, which is a sour that’s so sneaky you wouldn’t even know it’s sour—like a ninja in a tutu! It has a hint of habanero, and the sweet and spicy combo is so good it should come with a warning label: “May cause spontaneous happy dances!”
Then there’s Buck’s Frosty Balls. Yes, you read that right! But be careful, because for my pint-sized human, that 7% ABV will sneak up on you faster than I can steal a snack off the coffee table! They’ve also recently introduced a “hard tea” that’s so tasty it’ll have you feeling like you’re lounging on a beach, even if you’re just sitting in a parking lot!
If you find yourself in Copperhill and Patrick (the bearded wonder with fairy string) isn’t around, don’t fret! Look for Tina, who’ll whip you up a tie-dye that’s as colorful as my personality. And if you’re a dawg fan, you’ve got to meet Jake—he’s basically famous! Just ask him about his book; it’s a real page-turner! And don’t forget Lilly; she’s always ready to dish out belly rubs like they’re going out of style.
If you venture over to Murphy, make sure to say hi to Matt. He’s the best! You won’t miss him—he’s the tall guy covered in tattoos who always has good pets and cuddles for us dogs. Seriously, if you’re not getting belly rubs from him, you’re doing it wrong!
So, if you’re looking for great brews, amazing humans, and a place that gives back to the community, Buckbald Brewery is the place to be! Cheers to good times, great friends, and the best belly rubs around! 🍻🐾
